You’re Not Doing it “Wrong”, You’re Just Learning

Listen, noone came out the womb jamming out to Sex Pistols or Led Zeppelin, had extensive knowledge of health and nutrition, full rounded and unbiased world views and politics, and not even a sniff of your recent brain wave or way of thinking. -You started somewhere, and you rolled with it.

….So why do we bash the entry level, the start of the journey? …..Why is there only one way, and only one right answer? …..What if there are hundreds?

….What if the ” goal ” is the journey; navigating what the correct stream is FOR YOU at any given moment ?

You want to tell me out of the millions of people on this planet, we all must follow the exact same path????

Think of life as this:

You are water, you are at the top of a mountain you are descending down hill, at times being free and flowing other times you are selecting other streams and routes continuing to flow down hill, some streams will be short and fast with no contamination, painless if you will, while others will be longer, full of contamination.

waterrunningdown….The lessons learnt on the longer route could be exactly what you were wanting and needing, maybe you like the contamination, the pain…. maybe it’s what gets the best out of you.
It might not be the quickest and easiest way, or the most entertaining, but it could just give you the tools for what’s ………next.

How Can You Know ‘ ON “, If You Don’t Know “Off ” ?

We are all so angry and headstrong that we believe we are right, and that there is NO other way. ….Who said??? -Even us so-called motivational speakers, writers, emotion builders and idea gardeners, believe and preach “This is the way!!! You HAVE to do this and you have to do that!!!” …..OK, cool, try it, but know that this might not be your way. It may be that your entry point is different. -How did you start ? Where did you start ? ….Gotta start somewhere, right ? ….Mine is different from yours, you feel me ?

Drop The Anger Folks

I was amazed at the passive-aggressive (and straight up aggressive ) remarks towards the tragic events in Paris recently. My feed was clogged with people preaching outrage that many were showing sympathy for victims of Paris, while many other parts of the world are also dealing with similar tragic events. -This is 100% true, but as the great Kobe Bryant recently stated:

“When we feel the need to question the support of others in moments as critical as a life hanging in the balance, then we must question the kind of culture we have created that has led us to such insensitive suspicion.”

…..Thanks Mr Bryant well put; instead of making everyone feel like an uneducated fool, how about throwing out the negative and using this unfortunate event as a teaching tool to those that solely believe that the Today Show and A Current Affair are the final word on world matters??? -Maybe this was their entry point, their Good Charlotte to punk music, their Keith Urban to country music….Instead, everyone had a very High Horse looking down on those below, belittling someone making a start.

….And so it goes, with Christmas and the New Year rolling around, many will be making resolutions, resolutions to start going to the gym, start eating better and looking after their body, start spending more time with their family, start being true to themselves….. and by February,  they  will have already (as many motivational speakers and writers will have you believe) “failed ” or “given up “.
So What????
That’s not motivational, it’s downright negative. What we should be doing is applauding those for making a start: there is no journey without a beginning, no progress or achievement with a start, and aren’t we all, navigating, exploring and discovering at every turn?

What you know now is a result of starting with an idea and building on the idea, adding, subtracting, fine tuning.

So next time you are about to preach supreme knowledge, or downgrade someone’s entry point into a new and interesting idea, way of life or progress, stop and ponder:
Where did I come from ? Where did I start ? ….Chances are, you will be looking in the mirror.
